  1. Hi,

    Here an addition to http://www.schollnick.net/wordpress/macintosh-related/time-machine-information/#Time-Machine-Error-Messages
“Waiting for index to be ready (100), Waiting for index to be ready (101), Indexer unavailable (200)”.
You may want to summarize it. 🙂

TM wasn’t enabled for some time until I got a NAS (Lacie Network Space II), which I had set up to backup all other macs (they worked fine). Long story short, I made my MBP (10.6.7) also to use the NAS as an encrypted TM target disk, but TM just couldn’t ever finish the initial backup (~300GB). The logs said just “waiting for index”. I had plenty of free space (450GB) showing up on my “backup” share in TM prefs. The sparsediskimage was almost every time corrupted after a backup attempt, Finder couldn’t mount it.

The problem was that I had Quota enabled on the backup share and it was almost full (90% of 250GB). For some reason Finder/Lacie shows the total free space of the NAS, not that of the share quota. After increasing the quota, my TM backups again.

    HTH,
    SP
