Yes, Jay… That’s the argument that Apple has been using… And I believe that it is completely realistic, and reasonable…

But Apple has said that it is impossible to not charge for that upgrade in the past. The law’s haven’t changed, so how is it that Apple is supposedly able to do this now? Are they silently running this as a loss leader?

This is likely because of the new accounting rules that Apple’s using due to a change in tax code. They never intended to charge to begin with but because of those laws they had to. The upgrade cost for iPhones was taken care of because revenue was recognized for them over 2 years but the touch didn’t have the same accounting model to absorb the upgrade cost. Those rules have now changed so I suspect it’s no longer necessary for them to charge for upgrades (one way or another).

Very useful info thanks.. I’ve been thinking about applying for a new car loan, so I bought a copy of all three of my credit reports and found my credit score is 695. I was told this will be just fine for a car purchase, but I’m worried that I’ll end up getting screwed on the interest rates…

Lots of of bloggers aren’t really happy with this new iPad.There was just too much hoopla regarding it and alot blogers got disapointed.Thing is, I for one see lots of the awesome potential of the gizmo. Third-party soft for composing tunes, games, newspapers and magazines and FFS books, all sorts of neat stuff, but they failed to sell it very well (excluding the books). It looks rather undercooked
