{"id":2871,"date":"2010-03-29T13:35:31","date_gmt":"2010-03-29T17:35:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.schollnick.net\/wordpress\/?page_id=2871"},"modified":"2013-09-06T08:51:14","modified_gmt":"2013-09-06T12:51:14","slug":"venstar-thermostat-usage-monitor","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.schollnick.net\/wordpress\/home-automation\/indigo-v5-plugins\/venstar-thermostat-usage-monitor\/","title":{"rendered":"Venstar Thermostat Usage Monitor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here it is, an attachment script that will allow Venstar Insteon Thermostat users to monitor their daily usage of AC, Heating, and Fan usage\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 This is a basic attachment script that is designed to extend Indigo\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 <strong><a title=\"Indigo Thermostat Add-on\" href=\"http:\/\/www.schollnick.net\/wordpress\/home-automation\/indigo-thermostat-add-on\/\">(Please note, this has been updated for Indigo v5&#8230; \u00c2\u00a0See Here)<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>When installed, the changes are most noticeable in the Log file\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/p>\n<p>Received INSTEON \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Furnace Link\u00e2\u20ac\u009d off (button 2)<br \/>\nThermostat Insteon Thermostat Event being processed<br \/>\nThermostat Thermostat requesting Heating \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Off<br \/>\nThermostat Furnace Heat Ran for 14 Minutes<br \/>\nThermostat Thermostat Event Processing Done<\/p>\n<p>The attachment will monitor for the Venstar to announce Button 1 (AC), Button 2 (Heat), and Button 3 (Fan) traffic, and use these to track the usage for AC, Heating, and Fan. The attachment script will also create new variables to allow the tracking of Heat (Heating_dailymins), AC (AC_dailymins), and the Fan (Fan_dailymins) these variables will contain the the number of minutes that Heating, AC and the furnace fan have been on since the last &#8220;reset&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Please note, you will need to make a new timed action that runs thermo_reset.scpt whenever you want to reset the counters\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 I would suggest midnight, so that you are capturing the 24 hrs period\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 The script will append to a csv file in your documents folder that contains the value that are in the AC, Furnace and Fan variables, and then reset the variables to 0.<\/p>\n<h2>To Install:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Download the Venstar Thermostat Usage Monitor Script (See below)<\/li>\n<li>Copy the script (Thermo) \u00c2\u00a0to \/Library\/Application Support\/Perceptive Automation\/Indigo 4\/Scripts\/Attachments<\/li>\n<li>Copy the Thermo-reset script to \/Library\/Application Support\/Perceptive Automation\/Indigo 4\/Scripts\/Attachments<\/li>\n<li>Create a Time\/Date action, with the action of &#8220;Run Applescript&#8221;, choose External File, and point it to the Reset script. \u00c2\u00a0Set the time for when you would like it to run (for example, Midnight).<\/li>\n<li>Restart the Indigo Server<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>To Uninstall:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Remove the Thermo &amp; Thermo-reset script from \/Library\/Application Support\/Perceptive Automation\/Indigo 4\/Scripts\/Attachments.<\/li>\n<li>Restart the Indigo Server<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Recommendations:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Turn on SQL Logging (Log Device State History to SQLite or PostgreSQL) \u00c2\u00a0if you have a Pro license. \u00c2\u00a0This will be used in another Venstar related web server plugin that I am creating, and I plan to leverage this feature in more scripts. \u00c2\u00a0If you turn it on now, then the Venstar data will be there for the next plugin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Versions for Download:<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.perceptiveautomation.com\/userforum\/viewtopic.php?f=33&amp;t=8804\" target=\"_blank\">Click here to see plugin download links.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Version History:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>1.00 &#8211; Public Release<\/li>\n<li>v1.01 &#8211; Fixed issue with the Hex Character Decoder.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here it is, an attachment script that will allow Venstar Insteon Thermostat users to monitor their daily usage of AC, Heating, and Fan usage\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 This is a basic attachment script that is designed to extend Indigo\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 (Please note, this has been updated for Indigo v5&#8230; \u00c2\u00a0See Here).
