{"id":1534,"date":"2009-09-14T10:58:33","date_gmt":"2009-09-14T14:58:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.schollnick.net\/wordpress\/?p=1534"},"modified":"2009-09-14T10:58:47","modified_gmt":"2009-09-14T14:58:47","slug":"safari-plug-ins-freezing-under-snow-leopardr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.schollnick.net\/wordpress\/2009\/09\/safari-plug-ins-freezing-under-snow-leopardr\/","title":{"rendered":"Safari Plug-ins freezing under Snow Leopard?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Folks,<\/p>\n<p>I ran into a odd issue on Friday, which I was finally able to resolve today&#8230;. \u00c2\u00a0With Safari v4.03 and Snow Leopard v10.6.1, I was having Safari lockups with any Flash content&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>I ran the 10.6.1 updater, rebooted, and then discovered the issue. \u00c2\u00a0Here&#8217;s the steps I took to try to resolve this issue&#8230;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open Disk Utility, and performed a repair permissions. \u00c2\u00a0And this did solve part of the issue, now the entire web page would render (it did fix several plugin related permissions issues).<\/li>\n<li>Attempt to re-install flash player&#8230; \u00c2\u00a0(http:\/\/www.adobe.com\/flashplayer) &#8212; No change<\/li>\n<li>Manually cleared the Safari folder ( ~\/Library\/Safari ) of\u00c2\u00a0<span style=\"background-color: #ffffff;\">HistoryIndex.sk,\u00c2\u00a0LastSession.plist,\u00c2\u00a0History.plist,WebpageIcons.db, and\u00c2\u00a0TopSites.plist, in case any of them are corrupted &#8212; No Change.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background-color: #ffffff;\"><span style=\"background-color: #ffffff;\">The last step I took, makes sense in hindsight, especially when you consider the information from Ars Technica&#8217;s discussion on Safari 4 \/ Snow Leopard&#8230;. \u00c2\u00a0I rebooted.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>I believe the helper application that exchanges data between Safari 64bit &amp; the 32 bit plugin&#8217;s became stuck in a &#8220;odd state&#8221;. \u00c2\u00a0It was still functional, but the data exchange wasn&#8217;t operating properly&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Rebooting resolved the issue, and I suspect logging out, and logging back in may also have worked&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Benjamin<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Folks, I ran into a odd issue on Friday, which I was finally able to resolve today&#8230;. \u00c2\u00a0With Safari v4.03 and Snow Leopard v10.6.1, I was having Safari lockups with any Flash content&#8230;.
