Type Control-D to exit.<\/li>\n<li>Restart Mail and enjoy the extra speed.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Does it work? \u00c2\u00a0 The first time he tried this, Rob Griffiths of macOSXHints reduced his Envelope index from 25.9MB to 4.5MB.<\/p>\n<p>Okay, so that&#8217;s not the easiest way&#8230; \u00c2\u00a0Instead download<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/homepage.mac.com\/sebastianmorsch\">Sebastian Morsch<\/a> has written a script that quits Mail, runs the sqlite commands and then relaunches Mail at the end of the process.
