{"id":2970,"date":"2010-04-11T06:24:28","date_gmt":"2010-04-11T10:24:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.schollnick.net\/wordpress\/?p=2970"},"modified":"2010-04-11T06:24:28","modified_gmt":"2010-04-11T10:24:28","slug":"season-5-the-year-of-smith-moffat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.schollnick.net\/wordpress\/2010\/04\/season-5-the-year-of-smith-moffat\/","title":{"rendered":"Season 5, the Year of Smith &#038; Moffat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So far, we have seen two episodes in Doctor Who, Season 5&#8230; \u00c2\u00a0The Eleventh Hour &amp; The Beast Below.<\/p>\n<p>I plan to write up a quick review of both, possibly today. \u00c2\u00a0But never the less, I have to say, Doctor Who has survived the production team change, and the main actor regeneration. \u00c2\u00a0(Typically both don&#8217;t occur at the same time&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p>Matt Smith is doing excellent as the Doctor, he has brought a new energy back to the series that has gone missing over the last season or two&#8230; \u00c2\u00a0But the real difference is the scripts. \u00c2\u00a0Stephen Moffat&#8217;s scripting has brought a touch of darkness to these last two episodes, but also that touch of hope that has been missing in the &#8220;Year of the Specials&#8221;. \u00c2\u00a0It also has brought back that question of &#8220;What is the Doctor&#8221; doing?<\/p>\n<p>It also appears that &#8220;cracks&#8221; are going to be an integral part of the story arc this year. \u00c2\u00a0They literally are showing up every where&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Also, we are seeing inside the character&#8217;s minds&#8230; \u00c2\u00a0Both the Doctor &amp; Amelia have &#8220;shown&#8221; us what they have are thinking at one time or another in the last two episodes. \u00c2\u00a0I was concerned that this might back fire, but so far, it&#8217;s been an nice effect, and has worked quite well.<\/p>\n<p>I look forward to the rest of the season&#8230;. \u00c2\u00a0And Long Live the Moffat.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So far, we have seen two episodes in Doctor Who, Season 5&#8230; \u00c2\u00a0The Eleventh Hour &amp; The Beast Below.
