Mark Gatiss: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Steven simply said \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcChurchill vs the Daleks!\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 And that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s one of those pitches that you want to be given. It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s not like \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcPicnic with a man\u00e2\u20ac\u2122! It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s very exciting. And it came directly out of Steven taking his kids to the Cabinet War Rooms \u00e2\u20ac\u201c they were absolutely spellbound by it. So that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s the setting. I was initially intimidated by the thought of doing the Daleks after all these years but then I suppose I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve always had an idea of what I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122d like to do with them. They are, weirdly, an inherently World War II feeling creature. The Nazi connection is there, and also the world of the early \u00e2\u20ac\u212260s is very heavily post-War \u00e2\u20ac\u201c they feel like they belong to it. There\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a nice match to it.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
