{"id":3879,"date":"2010-08-18T15:57:36","date_gmt":"2010-08-18T19:57:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.schollnick.net\/wordpress\/?p=3879"},"modified":"2010-08-18T15:57:36","modified_gmt":"2010-08-18T19:57:36","slug":"dresden-files-book-8-proven-guilty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.schollnick.net\/wordpress\/2010\/08\/dresden-files-book-8-proven-guilty\/","title":{"rendered":"Dresden Files &#8211; Book 8 &#8211; Proven Guilty"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You know, some series just seem to keep your attention for a impossible number of books&#8230; \u00c2\u00a0So far, I have devoured the Dresden books by Jim Butcher.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know quite what it is about the series, maybe it&#8217;s the throw back to the Private Investigator genre, maybe it&#8217;s the fact that&#8217;s he&#8217;s a Wizard that is advertised in the yellow pages&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>In the world of The Dresden Files, magic is real, along with vampires, demons, spirits, faeries, werewolves, and other mythical monsters. Harry Dresden works to protect the general public, who are ignorant of magic and the dark forces conspiring against them. This makes it difficult for Harry to get by as a working wizard and private eye. The Chicago PD&#8217;s Special Investigation unit, when led by Karrin Murphy, regularly employs Dresden as a consultant to help solve cases of a supernatural nature.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe it&#8217;s the fact that he reminds me of Peter Parker&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Yes, I&#8217;ve said it. \u00c2\u00a0He&#8217;s a wise-arse insult slinging bad joke throwing wizard&#8230; \u00c2\u00a0That has authority issues&#8230; \u00c2\u00a0Sound like anyone else?<\/p>\n<p>How about this quote:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Oh, come on&#8221;, I said, louder. \u00c2\u00a0&#8220;I&#8217;m starting to feel a little insulted, here. \u00c2\u00a0If you guys keep this up. \u00c2\u00a0I&#8217;m going to take drastic, cliched measures. \u00c2\u00a0Maybe walk backward through a doorway or something.&#8221; \u00c2\u00a0 As he is trying to find some hidden minions in a horror showing theatre.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Sound anything like a spider related humanoid that we know?<\/p>\n<p>I highly recommend the series:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Storm Front (Book 1)<\/li>\n<li>Fool Moon (Book 2)<\/li>\n<li>Grave Peril (Book 3)<\/li>\n<li>Summer Knight (Book 4)<\/li>\n<li>Death Masks (Book 5)<\/li>\n<li>Blood Rites (Book 6)<\/li>\n<li>Dead Beat (Book 7)<\/li>\n<li>Proven Guilty (Book 8)<\/li>\n<li>White Night (Book 9)<\/li>\n<li>Small Favor (Book 10)<\/li>\n<li>Turn Coat (Book 11)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You know, some series just seem to keep your attention for a impossible number of books&#8230; \u00c2\u00a0So far, I have devoured the Dresden books by Jim Butcher.
