{"id":943,"date":"2009-04-21T10:10:27","date_gmt":"2009-04-21T14:10:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.schollnick.net\/wordpress\/?p=943"},"modified":"2009-04-21T09:11:07","modified_gmt":"2009-04-21T13:11:07","slug":"have-windows-automount-a-macintosh-file-share","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.schollnick.net\/wordpress\/2009\/04\/have-windows-automount-a-macintosh-file-share\/","title":{"rendered":"Have Windows automount a Macintosh File Share"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One method to setup a Windows drive letter mount on is to use the command line interface. \u00c2\u00a0The Net Command controls a large number of windows functions, including File Share (Net Use), Printing (Net Print), Time Syncronization, \u00c2\u00a0Account information, and much much more&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>For our purposes the Net use command, would look like this:<\/p>\n<p>net use DRIVELETTER: \\\\Servername\\FileShareName \/USER:DOMAIN\\username \/PERSISTENT:YES<\/p>\n<p>DriveLetter obviously would be the drive letter you would like to remap on the windows system.<br \/>\nServername is the Macintosh computer server name, or IP address<br \/>\nFileShareName would be the Macintosh Fileshare that you would like to mount<br \/>\nDomain would be the domain or workgroup name that the Macintosh is broadcasting (System Preferences &#8211;&gt; Sharing &#8211;&gt; File Sharing &#8211;&gt; Windows)<br \/>\nusername is the user account name to login to the share as<br \/>\n\/PERSISTENT:YES tells the windows system that this should be attempted for every login.<\/p>\n<p>If this does not work, make sure you are using the correct workgroup\/domain, username, user password, and have the correct fileshare name&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>If you still can&#8217;t get it to work, then make sure your XP Pro machine is configured to authenticate users correctly across a network.<\/p>\n<p>Open the local security options console.<\/p>\n<p>1. start\/run<br \/>\n2. type &#8220;secpol.msc&#8221; (without the &#8220;quotes,&#8221; then hit enter)<\/p>\n<p>Local Policies\/Security Options<\/p>\n<p>1. Scroll down the list of policies until you get to: Network access: Sharing and security model for local account.<br \/>\n2. Double click the key.<br \/>\n3. From the dropdown menu, choose: Classic: local users authenticate as themselves.<br \/>\n4. Click Apply\/OK.
