Disabling Macintosh Laptop Trackpads…

ignore-trackpad.pngThe Macintosh Laptops (Macbook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air), all have built-in Trackpads… I believe that people will tell you, “The trackpads just work”, others though simply don’t like to use Trackpads.

Sometime during the Mac OS 10.5 era, roughly around the time of 10.5.6 being released, a setting disappeared from the TrackPad system preference. This preference stated “Ignore Trackpad when mouse is present”. Quite simply, with this turned on, the Trackpad would be disabled if a mouse is added to the system.

This preference has moved to the “Mouse & Trackpad” tab of the Universal Access Preference Pane. Apparently, someone at Apple has decided that this option is better suited for the Universal Access suite.

Do you think this is a better location for this option? If you have any suggestions or comments, please feel free to leave them in the comments.
