Doctor Nightfall wrote this in the Girl Genius mailing list, and I thought people might get a chuckle out of this….
This was in response to Friday’s Web Comic…

Actually, I just realised something about them. And this is just a little scene and conversation I could see; this is NOT meant to be any kind of Fanfic!
“Dammit. Conduit 12 is blocked *again*. I’m going to have to get out the pressure suit for that. AGAIN. And it’s almost certainly going to be biomass from one of Maleficienza Heterodyne’s Body Hunts. *AGAIN!* And I will be doing this again in less than three weeks.”
*grumblegrumblemoangrumble*
“Have you tried introducing some of Pisetscia’s Green Ripperfish into the tanks?”
“…you ARE familiar with their lifecycle, aren’t you? Yes, they’d dispose of any remaining flesh and scrimshander any bones into flutes and clarinets, but if one of those spores got into the drinking water? No. I like my bladder unruptured and my spleen intact.”
“Good point. Hmmm. Hey, you ever heard of this guy?”
“Captain Qualifurm? Good quality clanks, incredibly limited functionality though. What’s he selling now? Can’t be any worse than that automated Buried Bone detector for dogs.”
“That was a work of sideways genius, you must admit. A device that would ONLY detect bones that that specific dog had chewed on? The principles alone took me a month to figure out- so simple, so elegant, but such a ludicrous application.”
“It was. Anyway, what have you found?”
“Squid Clanks. Configurable to your needs.”
“OK, That sounds like it might have a sensible application here! Tentacles with hooks and drills and corkscrews… general maintenance… no more calibrating the pressure suit… no more panicked fights with mutant mermen in the dark… how long will it take to get them here?”
