Well, sorta…

Hey kids, new mythbusters episodes start airing in 28 days! October 6th! “Hair of the Dog”– Bloodhounds chasing JAMIE!

Adam just tweeted, and stated October 6th it’s returning…

Does sound a little familiar though.  They’ve already done bloodhounds…

If you use a Mac, chances are you regularly adjust the volume using your keyboard’s volume keys. They’re handy enough, but the volume increment is pretty large.

There are at least two hidden options that people are not often aware of.

1) Fine tune volume in OS X by holding down Alt(Option)+Shift then pressing the volume adjuster buttons. Also if you hit the volume down button till it shows the mute sign then hit the mute key it will play very quietly.

2) Shift+ Volume Adjusters allows you change the volume setting, without playing the “tweet” sound. This way you can lower the volume, without anyone realizing it…

3) Option – Hitting Option + Volume Adjusters will bring up the sound control panel, without having to have System Preferences startup & switching to it.

Indigo Tweet!

This is a good example of how to integrate your Indigo system into Twitter!

Okay, it’s only a one way integration, any Insteon device that supports a “turn on” or “Turn off” command will automatically be Tweeted when turned on or off, with the appropriate message…

For example:

Desktop lamp was turned on

Desktop lamp was turned off

And yes, there isn’t too much sophistication here with this example script.  Please feel free to make suggestions, and comments…  I’d be happy to consider them for a newer version of the script…

Installation

  1. Download the ZIP file, and unarchive it.
  2. Copy the Indigo Tweet! script  into /Library/Application Support/Perceptive Automation/Indigo 4/Scripts/Attachments
  3. Reload the Attachments via the Indigo Scripts menu (Choose Reload Attachments).
  4. Add an TwitterID & TwitterPassword variable
  5. Set the TwitterID to your Twitter Username
  6. Set the TwitterPassword to your Twitter Password
  7. Watch as your House talks to you via your Twitter Feed…

Uninstall

  1. Remove the Indigo Tweet! script  into /Library/Application Support/Perceptive Automation/Indigo 4/Scripts/Attachments
  2. Reload the Attachments via the Indigo Scripts menu (Choose Reload Attachments).
  3. [optional] Remove the TwitterID & TwitterPassword variables from your Variable list

Well, I’m communicating with the author of the Twitoaster package, to see if we can isolate what is causing the failure of the package…  (It’s probably something related to my wordpress configuration…)

Twitoaster, automatically posts the wordpress posts to Twitter, but it also allows the Retweets, and Tweetbacks, to show up in the posts on the blog…

In the meantime, Facebook integration is still working…Or you could just monitor the RSS feeds..

Oh my Gosh…. I love it!

A almost superdeformed Cyberman cake…. Heropress blogged about Darius Whiteplume of Adventures in Nerdliness ‘tweeted’ about the selection of Doctor Who cakes over at Cake Wrecks, and Clare – who knows my sweet tooth – sent me the link as well.

As she said: ‘Imagine a cake that’s bigger on the inside than on the outside… yum!’

There’s been a few people that have asked for the Indigo Twitter script available for download…

So here it is…

Indigo Tweet v1.00 Version - v1.00, Downloaded - 72 times

Please feel free to give me feedback on the script, especially if there are features you would like added.

Here’s some code that will allow you to Twitter your Indigo Insteon Traffic….  It will Tweet when a device is turned on or off…Just place it in the Attachments folder for Indigo.  If you have any suggestions, improvements, or questions, just let me know.

If there is interest in it, I may continue to develop this…  This was written from a request from SeaofClouds… See http://www.perceptiveautomation.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2651&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=&sid=e714b1b9f304a3ecaa17e1a8a3f7b93e Continue reading »
