Apple Fires another salvo at Adobe…

Well, Apple has finally decided enough is enough, and publicly sent another Salvo towards Adobe’s broadsides….  And Adobe might just be happy about this one.

Apple makes hardware video decoding available to developers

In 10.6.3, Apple has now made a new “Video Decode Acceleration Framework” available.  What does that mean?  Adobe’s number one reason why Flash on the Macintosh is so slow in comparison to Flash on Windows…  Has been shattered.

Adobe has always blamed the lack of access to the hardware acceleration for the high CPU demands of the Macintosh version of flash.  Adobe has officially said “We will be enabling support for hardware accelerated video decoding for Flash Player on the Mac”.
